Description

A fairly simple setup that just seems to do everything right. Setup presents a full "wall of sound" in the sweet spot. Highs are detailed without ever being harsh. Midrange is the strong suit here, very realistic and engaging. Bass is deep, tight, accurate, and fast. Excellent sound quality from top to bottom and can be quite enveloping. A joy to sit and listen or to have it playing in the background.

    • Polk Audio Signature S60
Floorstanding 2.5 way speakers with three 6.5" drivers and a 1" soft dome tweeter. Downward firing Power Port.
    • Cary Audio CPA-1
Solid State Preamp with a signature Cary tube sound. Electronic Volume Control. Dimmable DIsplay. Ridiculously good sounding pre.
    • McCormack DNA-125
Modded by Bob Backert of RHB Sound Dezign. Very lush midrange and a wide, deep, tall soundstage. Bass is solid (iron fist in a velvet glove) and the treble is detailed without being harsh or fatiguing. Honestly, the best amplifier I've ever owned.
    • Elac DS-S101-G
Surprisingly excellent music server with roon essentials included for life. I find that the analog output sounds better than any DAC I've tried with the digital (COAX) output.
    • Technics SL-Q2
Great vintage semi-automatic turntable. Excellent sound quality. Recently refurbished with all new caps to keep the speeds steady and accurate. Upgraded with a Way Excellent II turntable mat from Herbie's Audio Lab. Running a Nagaoka MP-110 cart and I love it; tracks very well with superb sound quality.
    • Bottlehead Reduction Phono Preamp
Kit has the Integration Upgrade. Mahogany base is made from wood plank my father brought back to the US from Monrovia in the late 50's. "Butt Ugly" Amperex PQ White Label tubes from Brent Jesse Recording. Amazing phono pre for the modest investment. Assembled for me by a very good friend and expertly matched to the Cary Audio preamp.
    • APC H-10
Rock Solid power conditioner for all of the components except the McCormack which is plugged directly into the wall outlet.
