TTT-Compact II - A turntable made to perfection Years of experience in the field of analogue tracking were necessary to set the benchmark for excellence in the construction of turntables higher once more. Manufactured in fine craftsmanship, the TTT-Compact II is perfectly tuned to our tonearm Thales Simplicity II. Just its fine and compact design allows a mechanical stability not to be realized within the framework of a more extensive concept. Each of the 170 parts has been carefully designed to perform its function in the overall concept perfectly. 

The new type of drive system combines the advantages of a classic friction drive concept with the ones of the widespread belt drive concept. The short belt is led thereby by two pulleys in such a manner that relative movement of motor and platter is suppressed efficiently. The resulting hard coupling makes the moment of inertia of the high-revving drive unit to become sonically effective. The drive unit, made of ductile iron, is fixed on an exactly calculated spring element. In order to neutralize resonance, the revs of the three flywheels are designed in unharmonious ratio.

The battery pack of the newest generation (peak capacity 100 W) offers more than 12 hours of listening independent of the mains supply. Every effort was made to perfect materials and manufacturing of the main bearing, clamp and platter inlay for this new device. The TTT-Compact II rests on adjustable spherical spikes keeping horizontal vibrations effectively away from the tracking process. All these high quality features are designed and manufactured to set the music free.

The THALES SIMPLICITY II sets the benchmark for what is possible in tone-arm design today. The tracking geometry is based on a unique tetragon solution that reduces the tracking error to 0.006°.

Our new TTF-bearing-technology makes sure the performance achieves a level never reached before as the micro-ball-bearings are arranged in a tension-free setup. The intrinsic frequencies of the two tone-arm tubes are carefully tuned to improve on the damping properties of any single arm tube design.

The SIMPLICITY II comes with a special tool to make sure the installation is as precise as the manufacturing. The head-shell can be removed very easily for exact alignment of the cartridge. Three different counter weights, each with a different mass are supplied to enable a wide range of cartridges to be used (7 to 23 grams). The tone-arm is available in bronze, grey or black anodized finish and is featured with Thales’s own internal wiring. This wiring is very flexible and made from the purest copper. Three different wiring terminations are available.

TTF-Technology

Based on our long lasting experience in building micro-bearings for high end tone-arms, we started in 2012 to develop the TTF (Thales-Tension-Free) technology. This technology should combine the advantages of traditional jewel bearings (damping properties, one point contact and angular alignment) with the benefit of the ball bearing (load resistant, solid). Much research was made before this new technology could be implemented in our tone-arms. TTF technology gives incredibly low friction values, absolute freedom of backlash and as a nice side effect, an integrated shock absorbing system.
