JUST REDUCED AGAIN! THIS IS THE ORIGINAL TUBE - NOT A Mk. II - Serial # 79060311 . USA 120V One of my favorite of all time great pre amplifiers! Very hard to decide if this or the VAC Ren, Sig. Mk. II is the very best tube pre amp in any of my systems. They both sound AMAZING & I would hate to have to live on the difference. The VAC was a 2 chassis design & did have the mm/mc phono option. The Tube is a single chassis but does something very different & innovative. It only powers the tubes that that you select on the input which means that if you change inputs - you'll have to wait about 20 seconds for the new input tubes to warm up & your tubes should last forever! This Einstein Audio "The Tube" Preamplifier is in excellent condition with low hours and low use. The Tube represents the heart of EINSTEIN’s current lineup of innovative audio components. Not a remake of legendary vintage architectures, The Tube is instead based on a radical new concept full of novel ideas and proprietary execution. It appropriates the highest potential of tube technology while simultaneously insisting on uncompromised test bench performance. For Roland Kraft of Image and Holger Barkse of Stereo (two popular German audio magazines), The Tube combined the very best sonics and most flawless measurements ever encountered! Technical Data: - Volume control outside the signal path - Fully balanced, true dual-differential dual-mono design - Unique high-current output stage previously elusive with tubed components - Ultra-low output impedance - Shortest signal paths with point-to-point wiring - Wide bandwidth circuitry - 3 x balanced inputs, 2 x single-ended inputs, 2 x tape outputs - S/B ratio >95dB - THD 98dB - Output impedance 50 Ohm - Tube complement: 18 x E88CC/6922 dual triodes and 1 x ECC82 dual triode - Weight 15 kg Review Summary Marc Mickelson Soundstage Sound "Its own noise floor is exceedingly low -- below audibility, really -- which helps it uncover the lowest level of detail in a way that's unmatched in my experience." It also has "a very forceful, immediate presentation that… makes for exceedingly wide dynamic range." "There is also a weightiness, especially in the bass, which has great depth and power." Features "The Tube is a fully balanced line-stage-only preamp with a few twists. Only nine of the unit's 19 tubes are used for the main line-stage circuit…. The other ten tubes are used at The Tube's inputs -- five inputs, one tube for each channel. Each input has its own separate self-contained circuit, none of which is inactive or out of the preamp's main circuit.… Instead of the selector switch choosing which input's signals are routed through to the outputs, it instead turns on the heater supplies of the pair of tubes for the chosen input." Use "Because each input has its own pair of tubes, The Tube allows experimentation and fine-tuning like no other preamp. You can pick the input tubes that sound best for each source." "The minute-long delay as the tubes for the current input come to life and those for the previous one die out makes quick switching among inputs an impossibility." Value "I suspect that for some listeners, its clear, forceful sound will make it the obvious choice, even at its considerable price." Conclusion from Ryan Coleman Dagogo The above criticisms aside, The Tube Linestage is easily the best audio component I own, and on par with the Acapella Campanile as being the best audio components I’ve ever heard. With the insertion of the Einstein, I put the degree of change in my system’s sound on the order of a speaker change, like moving from bookshelves to full range 20hz floorstanders. This preamp is a paradigm-shift, and brings the dynamic tilt of live music into the home more than any other electronic component (note: I didn’t say “speakers”, I said “component”). The Tube Linestage is not made for home theatre or casual listening; however, if dynamics are your thing, or if live music is your thing, I cannot imagine any preamp outclassing the Einstein. Yes, I bought one. *Shipping & PayPal are on the buyer (if you choose that method) Wire transfer or ca$h is more than welcome. Personal & certified checks must clear my bank before I will ship!
