Sonus Faber Olympica III

Sonus Faber is known for giving all of the details the attention they
deserve.  Stepping into the Olympica line adds a luxurious flair with
highly detailed sound.    Cabinets are finished and trimmed in real
'solid' woods, hi-quality leather and polished aluminum similar to that
of their speakers in the $50K+ range.  Specially designed and built
drivers are specifically fitted into these cabinets creating a speaker
to be longed for.
 
The Olympica III is the largest, flagship
product in this line.  It includes the precision detail and naturalness
of the other Olympica's while solidly grounding the low end with the
addition of a woofer in its larger cabinet.  To many listeners these are
capable of reference level performance, especially in the
mid-frequencies.  They play well with many quality amplifiers and are
capable of providing a luxurious warmth and tonality that's truly
satisfying to listen to for long sessions. 

I bought these speakers from an owner while they were new in boxes. He
had an extra set that did not meet the wifes approval (wife did not want
black) so I bought them. I have had them for about a year and they have
seen little use. Beautiful piano black floor standing speakers that
sound amazing. All original boxes and packaging included will ship in
the US. I have priced these well and if you are looking for this model
or are familiar with you know what you are looking at. My loss is
certainly your gain.

Point” DAD (Damped Apex Dome), synthesis of the classic dome and
ringTransducer 29XTR2. A Sonus faber designed 1.1” (29mm) moving coil
driver. The ultra dynamic linearity is given by the new Neodymium motor
system.

Midrange
Sonus faber M15XTR. A
totally Sonus faber designed 6” (150mm) ultra dynamic linearity
mid-woofer.CCAW wire is used on a composite former “eddy current free”
voice coil. The dynamically linearmagnetic field motor incorporates
triple Kellog/Goeller rings. A special custom diaphragm is made with a
real time air dried non pressed blend of traditional cellulose pulp,
kapok, kenaf and other natural fibers, developed according to the most
natural sound. To further inhibit any residual cone coloration we are
using a transparent viscous surface damping coating. Special coaxial
anti-compressors are used, designed to remove cavity resonance and
distortions.

Woofers
Sonus faber woofer
W18XTR is a direct descendant of the 8.75” (220mm) speaker used in
“Aida”. Dual low-frequency drive units are used in the Olympica III. The
lightweight “sandwich cones are made from a blend of a synthetic foam
membrane and coated with cellulose pulp are voiced to blend with the
midrange drive unit and exhibit its same sonic characteristics. The
result is absolute definition and coherency in the critical mid
frequency range. A long-throw motor system with a 1.5" diameter
controlled "eddy current" voice coil is implemented for high speed,
dynamic performance and linearity.

Crossover
Non-resonant
“progressive slope” design, optimized amplitude/phase response for
optimal space/time performance. “Paracross topology” on both the tweeter
hi-pass and midrange band-pass. Crossover points are 250Hz - 2.5kHz.
