The IO's were introduced in 2011 which are half the cost of the Metis with different drivers, including their unique Stainless Steel and HDF stands at $10,000. The IO's use the trickle-down technology of the Metis and their other higher priced Loudspeakers. Alpha Audio Review Snippet: Translated from Dutch! Full Review below. Conclusion: "Immediately noticeable is the crystal clear high and middle. Placement is extremely accurate. We can hear the differences in the DACs very well; the character of the three used DACs differs quite a bit, and that is what the IOs sound excellent. The capacity of the Eventus set to create space in the sound image is great. If everything is correct, you will get a truly three-dimensional image of the recording". Condition Rating: 8/10 Left loudspeaker left side bottom very light white powder residue underneath clear coat. It's only noticeable if you're looking from a specific angle. See the Last Picture. Also, Left loudspeaker same location right side very slight Alligator Paint issue on the bottom layer (this is only noticeable if you're shining a flashlight. I brought these loudspeakers to my friends' house who was the head of a Major Post Audio Production House. He owned MBL 121 Loudspeakers powered by Quicksilver Audio's V4 Tube Mono Amps with KT88 Tubes 120 WPC, EAR 868 Tube preamp, EAR CD3 CD player. We played some uncompressed great sounding jazz male and female vocal, Chris Botto, Miles Davis etc and some uncompressed rock music with his MBL’s in place. Later we swapped out my Eventus Audio I.O Loudspeakers. My Friend stated “Jeff these are very dynamic speakers, very good width and depth of soundstage, very neutral, not tedious, accurate and warm sounding (you know I hate, bright and tedious loudspeakers!) These are a very good value at $5000., they don’t perform at the same level as my MBL 121's and nor should they, as my loudspeakers sold for $12,000 240% More! Reprinted from Alpha Audio Review - Translated from Dutch! December 10, 2014 | Yung Lie High End parents Eventus positions itself at the top of the audio market. The top model, the Neo, weighs 380 kilos each, is 2 meters high and 70 cm wide. The price is about 125,000 euros, but before that founder and spiritual father Domenico Fiorentino personally adjusts and installs the speakers at your home! We did not test the Neo ... That would be fun, but also an organizational challenge. Their entry model is the IO. Unique Music has delivered the iO including the matching standards. This set costs? 3,800. Euros! which places them in the high middle segment of the monitors. Rolling lines The shape of the IOs reminds us a bit of that of that other Italian speaker brand, Sonus Faber. Softly sloping, expanding sides and horizontal lines ... The black/gray metallic finish gives the whole a cool look. It looks great! Although the loudspeaker is by no means small (40 cm high 34 cm deep and 22 cm wide) the whole is not large and massive. Whether that is more beautiful, we honestly doubt. But you can not argue about taste. The fact for us is: you can leave a beautiful design to Italians with peace of mind! Claim to Fame Eventus? claim to fame is two abbreviations: SACC and EA-HDR. SACC stands for Simulated Anechoic Cabinet Construction. According to the manufacturer, this means that the material is glued and constructed in such a way that the loudspeaker cabinet looks like a measuring space inside. So a space without echo or reflections. This should especially benefit the middle and high tones. EA-HDR is the material with which the cabinets are built. It is a kind of aluminum with a high density, which ensures greater stiffness and inertia; it does not or hardly responds to external influences, in this case, the vibrations of the loudspeaker units. On the website and in the brochures EA-HDR is compared several times with MDF, a widely used material for loudspeakers. If we have to believe Eventus, MDF is the beginning of the end of time for decent sound quality. Quite a statement. We have no doubt heard excellent loudspeakers built from MDF. In short: it can work just fine. If you only know what you are doing. Bellissima! And then? listen! We connect the IOs to the Alpha-Audio reference set: the Dion Audio class D-power amplifiers (twice the SD60), the Dion preamp and in terms of DACs we can choose from a nice series: the Oppo HA-1, the Weiss DAC-2 and the Didit DAC 212 which the review will soon follow. Cabling for Audioquest speakers ( Rocket 88 ), flow filtering by Van Medevoort and Kemp. We exchanged a lot of interlinks. Among other things, between AudioQuest, new Art Speaks and WireWorld. Crystal clear What is immediately noticeable is the crystal clear high and middle. Placement is extremely accurate. We can hear the differences in the DACs very well; the character of the three used DACs differs quite a bit, and that is what the IOs sound excellent. The capacity of the Eventus set to create space in the sound image is great. If everything is correct, you will get a truly three-dimensional image of the recording. We could very well hear the difference between live recordings, different types of halls, and used studio technique. For example, the album Night & Day by Joe Jackson, recorded in a theater with classic Neumann tube microphones from the 1950s. At the track? Cha Cha Loco? you can almost touch the different percussion instruments. Being able to show such subtle differences is, in our opinion, the difference between hi-fi and high-end. Reprinted from Eventus Audio Website: Like other EVENTUS Audio products, the cabinet uses the SACC patented Technology that reduces the resonances and reflections inside the speaker giving the best performances in term of audio quality and the private EA-HDR material to get the best structure construction. Technical data: Power rating 20 - 150 Watt (RMS) Frequency response 55 Hz - 20 kHz Efficiency (2.83W/1m) 89 dB Impedance - 4 Ohm Woofer 180 mm high excursion - Scan Speak Paper Pulp Woofer/Midrange Drivers Tweeter 26 mm fabric dome Dimensions - H 403 x W 220 x D 340 mm Weight 15 Kg (33 lb) each Crossover Two ways dump-mounted Cabinet in EA-HDR material with SACC patented Technology. Thanks to the 180 mm woofer iO has a great dynamic and good bass response but it was still the classic EVENTUS Audio’s delicate sound. The dump-mounted crossover located outside the drivers space, the high-grade components used and the spikes complete the scenario of one of the most affordable loudspeakers in the audio market. The cabinet of the loudspeaker must be neutral and deaf as much as possible, therefore incapable to add information to the original musical signal. Moreover, it was necessary to create a loudspeaker with an innovative shape and design. To do so, it has been essential to give up the traditional constructive technique, inventing a new, different one. SACC (Simulated Anechoic Cabinet Construction) Technology. With the use of SACC Technology for the realization of a loudspeaker, we have two important results. The first one is concerning the cabinet design that for the first time it’s not dependent to a constructive technique, but on the contrary only to the imagination of the designer. The second one concerns the loudspeaker audio quality. From the outside of the cabinet, it’s easy to appreciate the design of a loudspeaker but, to understand the constructive technique of it and how it works on the musical message, it’s necessary to look to its inside. In the case of the SACC cabinet, some of them are completely disappeared by the graph. Others are attenuated up to 15 dB in comparison to the preceding case. This gives a better acoustic combining between the mid-woofer and the tweeter. In fact, the result of SACC Technology towards the acoustic curve response of the mid-woofer increases the performance of the crossover notably. Subsequently, this confirms the thesis that the loudspeaker cabinet to the peer of the other components, drivers, and crossover, covers a fundamental role, that as a whole, goes to constitute the final product. The SACC Technology realizes audio loudspeaker with the superior quality compared to the traditional construction process and with characteristics of design and construction deprived of the ties to the classical methodology. Moreover, the way used to realize a loudspeaker through SACC Technology opens new future possibilities regarding the materials to use and to new constructive structures. Using the SACC Technology with our private EA-HDR material we were able to improve many times the final performances of our loudspeakers. Our High-Density Resin with Aluminum, special metal inside the cabinet walls, permits to produce the best sound in terms of details and purity!
