Acoustic Research ES-1

A superbly rebuilt AR ES-1 Turntable with many upgrades.  This was professionally rebuilt, not a hack job in someones garage.  It comes with a mint dust cover, RB-300 tonearm and a new Denon 103-R (low output) MC cartridge.  The cartridge was only taken out of the box to ensure it worked, and then reboxed.  It comes with all orig parts, specs sheets etc. This Denon 103-R is the low output version and the channels are matched to better than .1 db.  The low output version is universally considered to be the best of the versions, with better detail without sacrificing the low end the 103 is known for.
The turntable was extensively upgraded, with the aluminum parts hard-coated and all major surfaces damped using EAR Acoustics damping material.  The Tonearm mount is custom laser cut from solid 1/2" acrylic and then dampened to prevent any vibrations from reaching the tonearm. Different kinds of EAR materials were used to keep vibrations to a minimum, dampening the main plate, tonearm mount, and even the motor mount. The motor is a custom motor from SOTW as is the seperate external motor drive unit and a custom speed control box.  33 and 45 can be selected by a switch and the speeds can be tweaked to perfection using a fine tuning knob.  The main platter is custom cut from acrylic and is supported on 3 1" damped metal supports.  It also comes with both a multi-layer platter cover and also a edge cover that damps the platter and record and also cuts down on static and slippage.   A special 3" record clamp is included and a piece around its center can be removed and replaced with a bubble level to help in setting up the turntable. (miniature bubble level included). Last, a weighted dust bug and a new digital stylus gauge is included.
With the 3 spring suspension, cone feet with adapters (if marks on the table surface is an issue), this is one of the best ES-1's available, besides being a great turntable in its own right.
