Meridian 557 Dual Mono Power Amplifier in excellent working condition and very good cosmetic condition. The amplifier is 200 watts per channel. It has been highly modified and upgraded by Steve Huntley of the Great Northern Sound company, who is one of the best modifiers of high-end amplifiers in the country.
One scratch on top glass but overall very good. Please see pictures for condition.

The Meridian 557 takes the Meridian 500 Series into new territory – with 200W of clean clear power. It houses two powerful amplifiers in a dual mono construction -- The dual mono amplifiers are both rated at 200W into 8 ohms. These, combined with a massive low- noise 1.6kVA toroidal transformer, permit this amplifier to deliver currents in excess of 30A, ensuring no loss of performance even into loads that dip below 2 ohms. The massive power delivery of this amplifier makes it ideal for driving difficult loudspeaker loads. The 557 can be operated in bridged mode giving power in excess of 680W into 8 ohms, 1000W into 4 ohms; provides balanced and unbalanced inputs as well as twin outputs for bi-wiring.
This 557 has been highly upgraded by Steve Huntley at Great Northern Sound who is one of the best modifiers out there.
Upgrade Highlights include:
4 sets of new Cardas Copper CCBP Binding posts
Rewired supply wiring with Cardas 11.5 gauge high purity copper wire.
4 larger/better Nichicon Great Supply 10,000 uf 80v power supply filter caps for the main high voltage supply.
Added appropriate MIT power supply bypass caps across filter caps.
Bybee noise reduction on main supply lines.
High quality high speed rectification devices.
Upgraded the 4 main signal coupling caps to the new Cardas/RTI type coupling caps.
Fine tuned sonics with appropriate bypasses.
The total upgrade cost was $1,600.
With the upgrades this amp sounds as good or better than any amp I've heard -- and Iv'e heard many! He used to work for Audio Research and Wadia
