Up for sale is a rarely seen Music First Mk II magnetic preamp in black. These units were custom built in England using hand wound multi tap transformers for volume control This particular unit has a second pair of transformers for the optional "tape out" function.
The MkII was Class A rated by Stereophile. It has a wonderfully smooth, open and detailed sound. It is completely free of active amplification so your power amp receives a signal that is identical to that of the source material. A selector switch on the back panel allows the volume control range to be raised or lowered by 6db.
The condition of this preamp is conservatively listed as 8 out of 10, but there are no visible cosmetic issues. It comes complete with a factory supplied "flight case" for safe transport. Remote and all original paperwork and manuals are included. I will, of course, double box for shipment.
