McIntosh C46 preamplifier, serial #XE-1299, complete with original factory packaging (inner and outer cartons), remote control, detachable power cord, and owner's manual.
Originally $5,500 - so selling for 50% off (deep discount for used Mc gear). Unit is mint physically and operationally. Glass is flawless/spotless. All lights illuminate perfectly.
Interesting pedigree, this unit originally belonged to recording engineer Steve Hoffman, who moderates a popular audiophile forum(s). Not that it makes it worth anything extra - but a cool bit of history.
Only issue is that the body of the remote is "sticky" or "gooey." McIntosh owners will know exactly what I mean. It happens to every (as in 100%) McIntosh remote from this era. Obviously doesn't affect the performance of the remote or the unit. You can Google search this phenomenon, please don't ask me any questions that you can find on the Internet. Some people have luck removing it with lighter fluid or alcohol.
Not interested in lowball offers - I think the last C46 on Audiogon sold for $3,129+ (TMR Audio).
