For sale is a Sony SCD XA5400ES that has had the full ModWright treatment plus some. I purchased this unit new and had Dan modify it before I started to use it. I have also added the Bybee rail to this unit. It has been upgraded with the ModWright Truth umbilical as well it has the PS 9.9 power supply which is a dual mono supply. (the original was just a combined channel PS) This unit will come with the original tubes that have very low hours on them. Also included in this is a new laser unit that I purchased just in case the stock unit goes out (nothing wrong with the stock laser). This has been used in a smoke free, pet free and kid free home and has worked flawlessly. I am selling this unit because I was one of the lucky ones to draw the lottery of new Oppo players from the factory and it will soon go to ModWright for the upgrade as well. The total investment in this unit is $1500 for the player, $1950 for the ModWright upgrade, $350 for the Bybee rail, $350 for the umbilical and $500 for the PS 9.9 and $75 for the new laser. (over $4500). This player has worked flawlessly since I purchased it. I has ALWAYS been plugged into a line conditioner/protector. Several reviews are out there for this player. | Hello. Have you talked to Dan about sound quality on this unit vs. Modwright Oppo UDP-205? I have Modwright Oppo 205 without pulse gen upgrade and it's better than anything I've ever heard so you'll love it! Reason I'm asking is I need another source in bedroom system and once you hear 205 it's really hard to listen to anything else. I have Exemplar SS modded player in BR now but really want something closer to Modwright unit. ??? I haven’t. I was able to hear both the 105 and 5400 side by side at ModWright. To my ears I liked the 5400 better. Adding the 9.9 PS from the 9.0 and the truth umbilical took it up another notch. Nod sure if I heard a difference with the bybee rail. The 5400 is a stellar player but when I received notice of the 205 from Oppo I decided to get it and have it modded after I sell the 5400. |
