Michael Fremer used a Musical Fidelity phono stage as a reference, and I have compared this phono pre with high end units from Sutherland (Duo), Pass (Xp-15), Heed (Quasar), Gold Note (Ph-10/Psu-10), EAT (E Glo S), and others. It is the winner for me hands down. It also has demonstrably higher HIFI News and Stereo Magazine ratings (both using comprehensive measurements) than any other phono stage. Less than a year old.
