This listing is for a vintage Nakamichi DRAGON stereo cassette deck. This deck was rebuilt by Willy Herman Services in September. I have used this machine for approximately 10 hours to verify operation and sound reproduction. This machine operates flawlessly all functions, features, and indicators are working correctly.

WILLY HERMANN SERVICE PERFORMED:

Removed and dismantled tape transport
Rebuilt auto azimuth block
Cleaned old lubricant from capstans, hubs, idler, cam mechanism, head block, pinch roller shafts, and rocker arms
Reconditioned pinch rollers
Relubed all as needed
Replaced spooling idler tire, cam belt, and counter belt
Replaced cassette well lamp and both auto stop lamps with LEDs and modified circuit to accommodate them
Reassembled transport and auto azimuth blocks
Replaced both left mounting posts with through-bolts for added strength
Realigned tape path guides and head depth zenith
Reaasembeld deck
Adjusted transport stop, cue, and play points
Reset head height and azimuth
Adjusted test tone levels
Set panel controls for all three tape types
Verified that deck now meets original specifications
Replaced feet
Tested machine extensively for correct function both cold and hot
Machine passes all tests

I have used and sold many Nakamichi cassette decks over the last 40 years including a dozen or more DRAGON models this is only the second time I have had one that was built as late as 1988 all others were 1983 or 1984. Sound quality is absolutely top notch. I used my personal Nakamichi, Mobile Fidelity and Nautilus reference cassettes for testing. The DRAGON is the deck to have and will faithfully playback your prerecorded tapes with the untmost fidelity. The NAAC system makes all the difference extracting the subtle nuance and organic texture from your recordings. This deck is a joy you will find yourself playing tape after tape rediscovering your collection.

Cosmetic condition is good with signs of use. A few scratches on rear panel, light marks on top edge of faceplate, and some fading to the black anodized surface. All graphics and labeling are intact. If you are looking for a completely solid correctly operating deck that will provide uncompromised reliable service this machine will meet your requirement. Included will be the WHS repair receipt, WHS Performance Verification report, and the old parts that were removed.
