The dac chips are AKM AK4399. Benefits of the increased number of DACs/channel are an absolutely dead background and increased transparency. I used the DAC-s with an Esoteric SA-50 -- a startling improvement over the internal dac of the Esoteric SA-50 (not surprising as the DAC-S has more AK4399 dacs/channel than the highly regarded Esoteric K01).
