For sale are
my Sony Signature MDR-Z1R headphones in mint condition with very light use. Even
the storage case has no cosmetic blemishes! Stereophile Class A Recommended Component.
The headphones are hand assembled by a single craftsperson in Sony’s Taiyo,
Japan facility. The quality and construction are second to none. The Z1R’s are
very light (385g) and the soundstage rivals or exceeds many open-backed
designs. They have excellent tonal character with deep base extension and
crystal clear highs without being sharp or fatiguing. Overall, an excellent set
of cans!
I’m selling
the headphones to finance the purchase of a tube headphone amplifier. I have
perfect feedback on Audiogon since 2002 so you can buy
with confidence. CONUS sales only. The headphones will be double boxed and ship
with the original Sony carton, storage case, the 3m single-ended cable with 3.5mm
to ¼” adapter and manual.
From Stereophile:
“The MDR-Z1R's appearance is dominated by its
outer earpieces: gently curved, matte-black domes of chromium-plated,
stainless-steel mesh. Inside each dome is hidden a similarly shaped inner dome
of "breathable" Japanese paper that works as an acoustic filter to
damp the diaphragm's backwave to minimize resonances and alleviate the dull
ghost-echo that colors the sound of many closed-back headphones. The outer
wire-mesh dome and the inner paper dome are precisely fitted to a third,
innermost dome of wide mesh whose rim becomes the vented surround ring that
secures the 70mm driver and its Fibonacci-patterned front plate and is attached
to the headset yoke.
Sony's Signature MDR-Z1Rs were the most
natural-fitting, fatigue-free 'phones I've ever used. They were also, by far,
the most naturally transparent and open-sounding of any closed-back headphones
I know.”
