Up for sale is a
Cambridge Audio 840c Azure--an upsampling CD player that can also be used as a
DAC. This player is in perfect working order and, cosmetically, in very good
shape—except for a ding on the lower left-hand side of the unit’s
faceplate. The ding is very small—hardly
noticeable when it’s on your rack—but I’ve taken some close-up pics to magnify
it so you can see for yourself. Some
very light scratches when viewed closely, but overall the unit looks quite
good. Sound is superb, and all inputs
and features work appropriately. I’m
listing it here as 6/10 mainly because of the ding.
The 840c received many
accolades and numerous rave reviews when it first appeared, including one by
The Absolute Sound's Robert Harley, who described the 840c as the best player

Several other reviews of the 840c from leading audio journals
are readily available through google searches, and you can find dozens of
forums in which the player is praised. The player has been a valuable
component in my system, but I've finally decided to sale it and simplify my set
up. Comes with remote; I may have the original stock power cable to
include, but I assume just about anyone would use an upgraded power cord on
this unit.
