Sony SCD-1 SACD/CD player. This was Sony's flagship SACD player. I am the second owner and I have owned it for about 16 years. I think that it retailed for about $5000 new. It is a tank- it weighs close to 60 lbs. I sent it out for some modifications about 12 years ago. Quite frankly I cannot tell you what was done, but the mods were recommended by other owners. I am not a true audiophile and while it sounds great, I can't tell you how it is any different than before the mods. The parts that were removed in the modifications were returned to me and are included in the sale if you want them (see pictures) About 7 years ago it would load the disc and spin, but would not begin playing so I sent it to Sony and they serviced it. It has seen very light use since then, maybe 20 hours a year. I have the remote, the battery cover is missing, but the remote works fine otherwise. I will add a picture of the remote shortly.

I am interested in the SCD-1. Did Sony change the KHS-180A pickup head 7 years ago? can you update the remote picture? I can't remember what Sony did. The issue was that it would load, but not read disks. I will update the remote picture right away. Thanks for the reminder. |

The front face picture showing at lower left hand corner has a "scratch " or this is an artifact? That is not a scratch. It is a smudge. It should wipe right off. I will try an post a new picture. |

This player is about 20 lbs heavier, so I would say that it would be about $75 shipped FedEx ground. I would accept $1600 shippped. |
