Luxman CL38uSE with MM/MC phono

Like new Luxman CL38uSE preamplifier with MM/MC phono stage (two MC gain settings, low and high, which allows you to run very low output carts). Also has a mono switch for you vinylphiles and a ton of other features including tone controls and balance dial.

I am the second owner and the unit is less than a year old. It is flawless, listed as a 9 out of 10 only because it has been used. It's a special edition piece, only 100 produced. I bought it with an idea towards a vinyl focused second system but given the quarantine I'm shutting that idea down for now. I moved this into my main system where it subbed in for a VAC preamp that retails for $20k. I did this largely for comparison's sake but the Luxman was so good that I considered keeping it and selling the VAC. The CL38uSE is truly an amazing preamp in this price range. It's also I think the most attractive piece of hifi I've ever owned, oozes style and excellence in its build. What's more, the phono stage is ridiculously good, and not just for an onboard unit. I ran my TD124 with Graham 2.2 and Koetsu Rosewood Sig into it, both directly into the MC high setting and then through an SUT into the MM setting - in either configuration it was competitive with a well-regarded phono pre that retailed for $4400. It does not in retrospect surprise me that Art Dudley, in his review of the non-SE version of this pre, compared it very favorably to his beloved Shindo.

Comes with all original boxes and materials - unboxing will be like unboxing a new unit right down to the rice paper cover that comes on the unit.
