For sale are two Silent Running Audio Ohio-Class XL Isobases. SRA's Ohio-Class platforms are made to order for a specific component and these were made Jeff Catalono of High Water Sound to use with his fThoress 845 mono power amplifiers. I'm not sure of the exact weight of the 845 amps, but my Thoress 300B mono amps weighed 28 lbs each and the 845 amps are probably about the same. I would think that these stands would work well for amps anywhere in the 20-35 lb range that are rectangular in shape. Each base measures 12 x 24 x 3.625 inches and the removable legs add approximately 3 inches to the height.

The only reason that Jeff parted with these bases was that two corners were chipped during shipping. One amp had a chipped front corner and the other had a chipped back corner that I have touched up with a little Bondo and gloss black paint. Both of these sections are shown in the photos and neither of these flaws affect the performance of the platforms and only the front is visible when looking at the system. As shown in the photos, it isn't that noticeable and I actually forgot about it once the bases were installed in my system and the amps were placed on the bases. There is also a very slight scratch on the top of one base that I tried to show in the last photo, but it is so light that it is barely visible in the photo. The circle in the top left of the photo is just a reflection of a ceiling light. The front chip is shown in photos 8 and 9 and the back corner chipped section is shown in photos 10 and 11. The photos make the chips look worse than they actually are and the top and sides of the both bases are in very good shape.
In a Soundstage.com review of the SRA's flagship Ohio Class XL+2 bases, Marc Mickelson concludes, "In eight years, we have named no equipment platforms or bases, no supports of any kind, Reviewers' Choice, but with the Ohio Class XL Plus2 platform there is no way around it. You'll be amazed by what it is able do, but don't analyze. Enjoy."

Regarding price, Silent Running Audio makes each Ohio Class XL base specifically for a piece of equipment and prices are based on the dimensions and weight of the equipment. I did read that XL+2 bases for Lamm ML2.1 and M1.2 bases were priced $1,712 and $1,962 respectively. These bases were made to the dimensions of those amps and price per square inch would have been $5.35 and $5.92. Due to the narrow shape of the Thoress amps, the bases were actually wider than the amp for added stability. At $5.35/sq. inch, the Thoress bases would be $1,540 each in the Ohio Class XL+2 version. I couldn't find any prices or review for straight XL bases, but even at $4.35, they would be $1,250 each, or $2,500 for the pair. Due to the the two chipped corners, I am asking less half that, so the cost for both bases is $1,100 plus shipping.

The amps ship in one box that is 27x20x13 and weighs 67 pounds. I have removed the feet from the bases and will ship them in a separate box.
