This DAC is in excellent condition with no visible marks, used in a dedicated music room, no kids/pets/etc. It is currently loaded with the latest firmware version (Sunlight) but I'll also include the previous version (Wisdom) if you want to compare. I have used this DAC both as a Preamp and as a stand-alone DAC, both with excellent results. The Remote Control adjusts Volume as sell as Balance which can be helpful when used with a power amp.
DirectStream Junior provides a fully synchronous 24-bit/192kHz path for USB-based audio, supporting up to 32-bit/192kHz and single- as well as double-rate DSD.
There are many very positive reviews online, and here are a few summaries:
"The DSJ, like its Father...delivers on the three Rs: rich tonality, robust dynamics, revealing of low-level detail, textural information and spatial cues. What a winner!"
– John Darko, DAR, Knockout Award
“In my system, the Junior delivered a refined, musical, yet detailed sound that was never aggressive but always involving.”
– Steven Stone, The Absolute Sound, 2018 Golden Ear Award
"Nothing I have heard at this price point thus far has had the word 'analogue' floating in my ears from the start of listening. Enthusiastically recommended."
– Eric Neff, Hi-Fi+
PS Audio DirectStream Junior is named a Recommended Reference Component by Soundstage! Network
Questions for the seller |

What other DAC's did you use for comparison and what general listening observations did you conclude? Thanks... I have tried the Chord Cutest, Hegel H90 and Denafrips Ares. While all were very pleasant and different, I missed the clarity and transparency of the PS Audio - especially with the latest firmware upgrade. Another factor for me was having a DAC with a built-in volume control to give me the flexibility to use it directly into a power amp. I recommend that you read the online reviews because they do a very good job of describing the sound & features of the PS Audio. |
Hi
How long has this dac been used? Would you please send me other photos?
Thank you! About 4 years of light to moderate use. I've used several DAC's over that period but I kept returning to the PS Audio. I'm only selling now because I've simplified my system and now use a all-in-one DAC/Integrated. I can't send more photo's because the DAC is boxed up, but there are plenty of images online in the reviews. The unit is in excellent shape. |
