First, this is not a made in China knock off. This is a very serious and highly engineered, full-linear power supply upgrade to Naim components. It's hand built by Sean Jacobs from Custom High Fi Cables in the UK and weighs as much as a 250 amplifier. It's a one of a kind power supply designed to provide the utmost performance and flexibility (can be used as an XPS or 555). If you are serious about buying a Naim XPS DR or Naim 555 DR power supply, and you don't have the $6,000 or $12,000 burning a hole in your pocket then read on.
This full chassis (same size as a 555 PS) was custom made with many upgrades. The result was a power supply that out performed both the XPS DR and 555 DR with noticeable improvements. The results were a more smooth and more open mid range, more detail in the bottom end, more separation of instruments and a wider, deeper sound stage.
This power supply still has that Naim PRAT sound but does not have the 'edginess' often found with Naim supplies. The reason is that the power supply uses a way more expensive lower noise transformer, much better Schotty diodes and an array of top of the line Mundorf caps. Naim uses much cheaper caps and focuses on regulation rather than signal path. Capacitors are probably the biggest improvement that you can get in an audio circuit. They're incredibly important because they affect audio signals to such a significant degree.
The other great thing about this power supply is that it can be used as either an XPS or a 555. Right now it's set up as an XPS but if you ever wanted to use it as a 555 you simply would have to make one small modification. You don't have to go out and purchase a new power supply. By the way if you did purchase an XPS and then a 555 PS later on you would spend $18,000 all in.
I can go on and on and on about this power supply and get into more technical details but it will take up too much time. If you are serious about upgrading your Naim CD player, Naim DAC or streaming pre amp and want 555 DR performance without the price tag then we should talk. The standard XPS-type Burndy allows the CHC-555PS to power the CDX, CDX2, CDX2.2, CDS2, CDS3, DAC, HDX, NDS*, NDX, NAC-N272 and ND5XS. I actually have two of these and I'm selling one of them to reduce my audio gear footprint.
Technical and product questions can be found on the website I provided. Let me know if you have any questions about this product specifically. My specific unit is the CHC 555 with and XPS output, with several upgrades. This power supply also took about 4 months to build because the parts were not easy to get. The transformer is hand made and has a total EMF free magnetic shield and the caps were all matched.

Notice in the photo's I compare the CHC 555 Power Supply against the $6,000 Naim XPS DR and the $12,000 555 DR Power supplies.
The first thing you will notice is that the silver torrodial transformer in the CHC power supply is larger, more dense and houses better shielding than even the 555 DR. Also, notice that in the XPS there are 5 output capacitors and four regulator boards. In the 555 DR there are four output capacitors, although they are larger than the XPS's capacitors.
The CHC supply has 12, top of the line Mudorf Caps that are in four banks, each with their own custom designed regulator boards for each output capacitor. Only the the finest pure copper wiring is used and there are no Chinese parts inside. This is completely hand built from top to bottom.
