Amperex Holland Bugle Boy 12AU7 / ECC82 new matched pair with matching date codes in original pristine yellow and green boxes, polished steel pins and small halo getters. These tubes were produced in the Amperex Herleen Holland factory the 1st week of July 1966 (Delta6G1). The Amperex Holland 12AU7 / ECC82 Bugle Boy is an amazing performer. There is an aliveness and palpability that no other 12AU7 has. Joe's Tube Lore calls it a "wetness" and says these are the top 12AU7 of them all (see link to Joe's below). I would also rate these #1 and the much heralded and super expensive Telefunken ECC802s and the RCA clear-top as my #2 and #3 favorites. The difference is the that both the Telefunken and RCA share the great open top end and soundstage of the Amperex, but they are not as balanced overall. They sound thinner and leaner with less bottom end weight, and are definitely dryer, not possessing the wetness, palpability and huge 3-D midrange of the Amperex. I polish the steel pins on the tubes that I sell. I have found a dramatic improvement in performance when the years of oxidation are removed. Openness, speed and leading edge are improved, along with a tightening of the bass with better depth and a more dimensional midrange. Fully tested for noise, gas and shorts. New Mutualconductance (gm) on my calibrated Hickok 600A is 2,200 / 2,200 this quad tested: Tube 1: 2,600 / 2,550 Tube 2: 2,550 / 2,550 Price is $139 for the pair including Paypal fee and $7.50 for USPS Priority Mail shipping (with $140 insurance) in the US. International shipping is determined by country of destination.
