i recently purchased this little gem to use first as tide over in my main system until my McIntosh came back from servicing, which is projected to be 6 or so weeks due to backlog. Much too long a time to be without music and movies in my book! When it returns, i was then going to install the Arcam in my garage/workshop... That WAS the plan... Upon using the AVR200 i have decided i can not relegate it the 'beater' system it was originally intended... in fact, it matches so well with my Arcam universal disc player and Plinius amp i was tempted to keep it as a backup in case my Mac gives up the ghost entirely. Upon further consideration i can not justify keeping this fine piece of audio equipment boxed up in storage, 'just in case'. So here we are.
The receiver is in excellent cosmetic and working shape.. rating it an '8' to be on the safe side. Here are a few specs:
5 x 70 wpc (all channels driven into 8 ohms)
2 x 90 wpc (both channels driven, stereo mode)
Massive toroidal power transformer
Dolby Digital and DTS decoding
Dolby Pro Logic II decoding
5 x digital inputs (3 x co-axial and 2 x optical)
1 x digital output (co-axial)
High quality video switching from both composite and S-Video sources
FM and AM tuner with 40 presets and RDS
External 5.1 multi-channel input for DVD-Audio or SACD players
Pre-amp outputs for all channels - L, C, R suitable for bi-amplification with Arcam P85 or P85/3 power amplifiers
Full remote control and on-screen displays
Remote control input jacks for friendly custom install
Full menu-driven bass management
i am currently using it in stereo mode as a preamp with a subwoofer. The sound is outstanding... much better than i expected, hence the reason for its re-sale. i can not subject it to the dust and other conditions it would have been put under as the heart of a workshop system. In my system it sounds different from my 'tosh, not inferior.. in fact it has great punch and musicality, with maybe a bit more clarity than the McIntosh. Highs sparkle without being strident, mids flow cleanly and beautifully, and lows boom and pulse without any muddiness. Very pleasing non-fatiguing sound. i shall miss it but will be happy someone will get the good use of it as it deserves!
Sale includes the receiver, ARCAM CR80 remote, manual, power cord, and original double boxes. Buyer pays actual shipping costs. i will ship only to the lower 48 states. Local pickup is fine for the New Milford/Danbury CT area. i only accept USPS money order, certified check, or personal check subject to clearing, and will ship promptly.
Due to its age it should go without saying this is an 'As Is' sale... but i assure you everything has worked flawlessly for me in the short time i have been graced with its company. The price is firm and fair, first one to agree to it gets it.
