This DVD/ CD player works flawlessly. It has the smooth, warm, ARCAM sound. Cosmetically it has a few scratches and blemishes. It is built to last a long time and no problems of any sort. I no longer need this CD player. I bought an OPPO 93 to replace this DV79. I am asking $225 plus shipping cost. Thanks for your interest.

Building on the global success of Arcam’s high-end DVD Players, the DV79 is an affordable enthusiast level machine that delivers one of the best DVD pictures in the world! As Arcam designs and builds its own DVD players in the UK, rather than assembling bits of Far Eastern parts in a nice box, the R & D team were able to achieve a remarkable price / performance ratio, using their experience from the high-end FMJ range.
The DV79 has an HDMI* digital video output for the latest plasmas and projectors, plus interlaced and progressive analogue video (both 525p and 625p) for existing displays. It has an exceptionally high level of video performance, delivering film-like clarity, depth and smoothness from even poorly coded DVDs.
Special attention has been paid to sound quality both for DVD-Audio and CD replay via the analogue outputs – an area where nearly all DVD players fall short of audiophiles’ expectations. On music the DV79 will not disappoint. The player has 5.1 channel decoders for Dolby Digital and DTS soundtracks, as well as Dolby Pro Logic II decoding for 2-channel music and movie sources. It includes a unique audio delay manager (variable from 0 to 150ms) to compensate for the video processing delays inherent in modern digital displays.
The new Arcam remote handset the CR415 is used. This is logically laid out, with highly legible buttons and with key controls colour-coded to provide fast and intuitive access to all functions. A front panel NAVIGATION button allows direct access to the DV79’s setup menu and disc menu; RS232 control is also provided as standard.
