I wanted to hold on to this beauty but financial reasons have forced me to sell my silver Audio Research Reference 3 preamp. This unit is in excellent condition and has the factory upgraded Ref CD7/PH7 power supply and PRP resistors (Revs. 6, 6.1 and 7). This PS upgrade brings it closer to the Reference 5. At the upgrade, Audio Research installed the new-look silver handles. The original black handles (detached) will be included with the sale. This preamplifier was kept in a dedicated smoke free audio room. It was lightly used with 1171 hours on the original tubes which are rated for 4000 hours of use.
