Boulder 500AE - Recapped by the Factory and Good for Years

Up for sale is the renowned Boulder 500AE Amplifier, which offers much of the performance of the current 1000 series but at real world price. I have all of the classic series of Boulder amplifiers: 102AE, 250AEs, and the 500AE. My current speakers, the power hungry MBL 121s want lots of current and simply work better with the Krell KMA-160 monos so my 500AE and some other gear is up for sale.

As a stereo amp, the 500AE is the my favorite of the classic Boulder gear. A pair of 205AE monos are better but they are also 50% more money. With the 500AE you get the Boulder transparency with enough current to drive any reasonable speaker load without going to monos. Should you want to eventually go to mono blocks, there is a switch on the back to toggle between stereo and mono operation.

This amp was at the factory for a full health check and updating worth over $500. I have the invoice showing the capacitor update and check out in late 2011.

Why buy some other 15+ year old amplifier that may be compromised by aging capacitors and then eventually pay for a capacitor update.

Cosmetic condition is good but there are some small scratches / scuffs on the amp.

Note: balanced inputs only. You can run single ended but will need some XLR - RCA adapters. I don't have the factory power cord so none is included.

Boulder amplifiers have sophisticated built in protection against too much DC on the input signal, output shorting and clipping. The amplifier is designed to shut down before destroying your speakers and may save you lots of money and grief down the road.
