Einstein TU 3 cartridge in excellent condition – I purchased it in May 2017, after first owner had it sent to EMT for full inspection and service. It’s not a great fit for my tonearm (FR64S) and I’ve put less than 30 hours on it.

Service paperwork dated April 2017 is pictured and will be sent along with the cartridge. The seller indicated “very low hours” as years ago he broke a solder connection on it, put it away and just used other cartridges. Note that this is a very exposed design and requires an experienced hand in setup.

EMT kept the original cantilever and stylus. The invoice translation: “REPAIR DEVICE TU3, SFL, Boron; R935GUM rubber damping / inspection; Fastening of pins, cleaning, rubber exchange, adjustment, testing”

Stereophile Class A Component in 2008: “It has a detailed, holographic, sound with a very realistic harmonic presentation . . . the TU-3 lays it all out, then gets out of the way". (Michael Fremer)

Description from the Einstein website:

“Since more than 30 years Volker Bohlmeier had the idea to design his own cartridge. He started modifying the classic Denon DL 103, Audio Technica, Decca or EMT cartridges. It ended up, that EMT manufactured a cartridge for him in the mid 80es, which was based on the original TSD 15 broadcasting cartridge. When Volker Bohlmeier founded EINSTEIN Audio Components in 1988 EMT manufactured the well know TU-2 cartridge for EINSTEIN, followed by the even more famous TU-3 model with a different cartridge body, boron cantilever, different stylus shapes, as well as modified coils to achieve a lower output voltage, as well as a lower coil mass. This cartridge was reviewed by many analog specialists and got a lot of merits for its dynamic, well balanced and lively, meaty sound. It was and still is a fantastic cartridge.”
