This is a dealer demo of the last of the great Miyabi moving coil cartridges. These were a special limited edition, hand-crafted by Haruo Takeda, based on the previous Miyabi Standard, and housed in a Carbon Fiber headshell for superior damping. After 40 years of fabricating the Miyabi line, Takeda-san retired due to advanced age after creating a limited number of these in 2005-2006.
The Miyabi special edition was marketed by Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab as the MFSL Carbon 3.5. This particular example was briefly used as a demo unit at a few audio shows in 2006 and then retired. It has been unused since and comes complete with the original lacquered box and all of the original accessories and inserts. Except for minor wear to the outer cardboard box (not visible in the photograph), it is as close to new as you will find today.
