Linn CD12 Red Book and HDCD player

I am begrudgingly parting with my beloved Linn Sondek CD12 Red Book and HDCD player. Asking $5,950. Product details below:

- Absolutely sublime sonic performance from a truly legendary product … even 15+ years after being released, this product remains one of the finest sounding CD players in the world; 

- This product literally took one person 40 hrs to build, doing so in a special “clean room” at the factory only used for the CD12 and the Ekos tone arm (even Linn treated this product as an absolute treasure);

- Beyond the sonic benefits, this product was truly unique in that it had absolutely no buttons on the front … Linn developed a revolutionary disc tray that can be programmed to respond by simply touching/pressing a particular location on the front edge of the chromed disc tray while closed (can program up to 9 different functions, like FF, RW, PLAY, PAUSE, OPEN, etc.);

- Further, it’s possible to preprogram the player with up to 50 of your favorite discs … thus, when you insert one of your programed 50 CDs, the unit will only play the pre-selected tracks of your choosing (i.e., if a CD has 15 tracks, and you only listen to 6 of them, then on insertion of the disc, the machine reads the CD and knows the 6 tracks that you’ve programmed, only playing those tracks unless you override the function);

- I’m the original owner of this unit … s/n 00039 … this is an original 20-bit version, which by all accounts is the more desirable product (Linn briefly offered the product with a 24-bit protocol during the middle of product life, but then went back to 20-bit protocol due to superior sonic performance); 

- Product is in virtually mint condition (cannot find any obvious or notable cosmetic blemishes), but solely due to its age, I’m going very conservative  with an 8/10 rating … you will not be disappointed with either the sonics or cosmetics of this unit;

- Product is universal voltage for use anywhere in the world by merely changing the selector switch on the rear of the unit (and having the correct power cord for whatever country you’re using the product);

- Product received a laser replacement at the factory about 8 years ago (shortly after I bought the original Klimax DS streamer) … after it returned from this factory service, the unit has seen almost zero play because I use the streamer … this is the only reason I’m selling … I simply never use it anymore, and somebody should enjoy this remarkable product;

- Product comes complete with all of its original factory accessories … cardboard box/inner packing, metal travel case, full sized AV5101 learning remote, a power cord, the Linn Silver 1.2m RCA interconnects, and the original owner’s manual;

- Purchase price includes standard ground shipping in CONUS … any international or expedited air shipping will be at additional cost to buyer;

- Payment via bank wire or personal check if buyer doesn’t mind seller waiting for the check to clear. (Paypal transfer can also be arranged through my local authorized Linn dealer, although it will add a 3% surcharges to the pricing).
