Marantz SA-8260 SACD player. Near mint with box, manual and remote. Has the Marantz service mod on servo board and has no problem reading SACD. No PayPal fees.

This is a really nice Marantz SA-8260 SACD player with HDAM discrete modules (no opamps) and sounds excellent. This particular series of units initially had some TOC reading problems but Marantz issued a service mod (read about it further below) to the service board which corrects the issue. Basically a 1k resistor is added to the board to correct the laser current. If a unit has a healthy laser then you must check for the presence of that 1k resistor on the servo board and if it isn't there then you need to have the mod done before it's too late. Anyway, as I mentioned there is plenty of info online and I did confirm that this unit has the modification. See below for more info.

Getting back to the unit itself, as mentioned it looks practically new, has original box, manual and remote. The original packing material is a little distressed so I will add additional protection to make sure it arrives safely.

I only have 4 SACD's (3 are hybrid layer) and I can say that each one plays perfectly in this unit, and it's quite cool to switch between the SACD layer and the Redbook layer on the hybrid discs, you can really hear the difference once you hit that SACD layer! Plus you also get the song title text and so on... I show that on one of the images.

The price is pretty low only because of the bad history that plagued this model in the early years that it was in production. It sounds like it's worth a lot more than the asking price!

Normally I don't accept returns, but simply due to the history of the model (not this particular one, but the entire series after it was introduced) I will allow the buyer 48 hours (after receiving it) to test it for themselves and decide. You will have to sign to receive this and I will be tracking the shipment so I'll know when it has been delivered.

It will be sealed with tamper proof seals and if there is any evidence of tampering, I will not accept it back. Please be absolutely sure that you understand this statement. I have also taken several additional pictures of the unit (inside and out) so I will be able to identify the unit if it gets returned.

I am protecting myself against the people who think it's OK to buy something, swap out their defective part(s), then claim it isn't working.
