Lampizator Level 4 Gen 5 DSD DAC w/ Jupiter caps and volume control

 This is the latest generation of the Level 4 DAC which
is Lampizator’s best selling model.  The
standard L4 features tube rectification, tube output stage, three chokes and an
almost electrolite-less power supply.  It
features some of the highest end parts money can buy including an outstanding
digital board capable of 32bit/380kHz (ie: DSD128) playback. 

My unit was built with the remote-controlled volume option, upgraded
Jupiter cast coupling capacitors, and both USB and S/PDIF inputs.  It was built in March 2015 with a 5 year transferrable
warranty, so it still has 3+ years left under warranty.  It has been very well cared-for and sat safely
in its box for 6 months during a recent move. 
I paid $3,900 but a new one today is listed for $4,150 not including
remote volume and upgraded capacitors.

I’ve used it with a Win7 & Win10 PC, either by itself or
with the Sonore microRendu, for flawless playback of all file formats up to
DSD128.   In my system the L4 served as
both DAC and Preamp, driving my power amp directly thru the tube output with an
easily heard benefit of improved clarity, not to mention saving the cost of a
Preamp, extra interconnects and power cable.

I’ll leave the description of sound quality to the several
extremely positive media reviews.  This
DAC received a PFO Writer’s Choice Award 2014 and Stereo Mojo Maximum Mojo
Awards.

It comes with the stock tubes (E88CC (qty 2)/ECC81 (qty 2)/6X5
(qty 1).  I’ve tried a few NOS 7308’s,
12AT7’s and 6X5’s but always returned to the stock tubes – they were very well
selected for this DAC.
