LH Labs Geek Out 1000 DAC/Headphone Amp

The LH Labs Geek Out 1000 is a small DAC - headphone amp combination. It plugs into a USB 2.0 port on a computer, which provides both the signal and the power. It has two 3.5 mm output jacks. One is for headphones, and the other is a line output for connection to an external amplifier. There are two small buttons that control the volume. The output power is 1000 milliwatts. It uses the highly regarded ESS Sabre Reference 9018M DAC chip. It can play PCM up to 384 KHz / 32 bit, as well as single and double rate DSD. I bought this DAC new several years ago, but I haven't used it much in the past couple of years. A good deal of the time I used it with a Raspberry Pi. That's not a supported configuration, but it worked for me. This DAC came with a short USB extension cable, which is particularly helpful when using the DAC with a laptop computer. However, that cable eventually failed. I am including a similar cable made by MediaBridge. I can't hear a difference between using the MediaBridge cable and plugging the DAC directly into my laptop, so I don't think that the replacement cable is affecting the sound significantly.
