Up-sampling produces a more fluid, natural and dynamic musical experience simply because the digital information has more room to breathe, "mathematically".

Digital noise and distortion from the conversion process are "pushed" higher up into the inaudible frequency range which allows for the use of less harsh filters in the pass-band. 

Your sound stage width and depth takes on blacker background where musical events seem to "jump" out of nothingness! Overall transient response takes on a more "vital" presence due to minimized phase shift and group delay. Acoustic instruments are now more palpable, with 3-D like body, TEXTURE and soul!
