Rare opportunity to acquire this is outstanding DAC, which was made in USA, and is still considered one of the finest DACs available. This is a late model unit with the 17" faceplate (SN 8085590015). Parasound also offered units with 19" faceplates using the same chassis. I will be listing a unit with a 19" faceplate soon - if interested let me know.
Based on the Ultra Analog discrete ladder DAC chip - the legendary Ultra Analog D20400A. This DAC module was used in the flagship products from Levinson, Classe, Spectral, Sonic Frontiers, Threshold, and Parasound.
Ultra Analog desinged the D/AC 2000 Ultra for Parasound incorporating lessons learned from their involvement with prior flagship DACs. I've owned the Classe DAC-1 and heard others. Overall, this is my favorite UA based DAC.
The rest of the chipset includes a Pacific Microsonics digital filter the PMD100 to decode HDCD and the Ultra Analog AES21 custom input receiver.
The D/AC-2000 performs best with a low jitter drive such as the PS Audio Lambda (see rave Stereophile review and low jitter measurements). I have a Lambda that will up for sale in the near future. If interested in a package deal, let's talk.
