Power transformer is high quality "E-Core" Volume control is Analog-DC-motor-driven (remote control, A precision motorized Alps stepping attenuate) Japan made "ALPS" (one of the best volume pot today click to see)PCB is made of Gold (not silver, not copper, no point-to-point wire) - 2006 model only Tube sockets are with Gold contacts (not copper) - 2006 model only Key Resistors are AB- Allen Bradley NOS resistors (US-made) - 2006 model USA version exclusive only Coupling capacitors are "Auricap" capacitors, USA made (world finest capacitor, click to see) (only for this new release model) --- again please note this "Auricap" cap installation is USA version exclusive! Signal wires are pure silver (shield) (Why need those pure silver wires? If you paid $1000 interconnect cables, you will understand why and will be glad this amp uses pure silver wires to protect your investment on the cables) --- please note using pure silver signal wires is USA version exclusive! Lead-free solder, no messy/long wire, no thin wire jump connections on this amp. Two inputs (both are stereo, gold RCA-- the select switch is on side), and Two outputs (both are stereo)! Yes, it has two outputs (gold RCA) so now you can connect this preamp to your subwoofers or bi-amping --- USA version exclusive! Signal paths are shortest possible (I doubt if there is any other preamp with total length of signal path being shorter than this one), plus silver signal wires and gold PCB and gold tube sockets.
Really great budget preamp, a solid 8-10, perhaps better. Comes with stock rectifier, 2 each Brimar 5z4G, 1 US Made Tung Sol 5y3gt, 1 Hickock, 5y3gt, as well as a pair of Phillips 127T’s, a pair of Brimar 12AT’s, and 3 each new EH 12AT7’s. I used all Brimar tubes and that was my personal favorite combo. This is a well-respected preamp and a quick internet search will verify lots of happy owners. Moving back into an all solid state system…this year ;-)
This is a remote controlled piece with the smaller remote, not the nicer wooden one.
