Up for sale is my DBX BX-1 power amp with is 2 , 3 or 4 channels configurable for bi amping or with a subwoofer and 4 channel for a media system. These amps were built in Newton Mass and are very sought after amplifiers as they were very highly rated in the 80s by Stereophile against Thresholds and Levinson amps at the time. I may still have the review somewhere. They are very tube like in their sound quality. I used them to drive my Magnepan MG3a biamp for many years with great success with an electronic crossover. These also do a good job driving my Soundlab electrostats and can drive Apogee Duetas as well. There is a mention of this on the web. The fact that this amp is even associated with such great gear should indicate how good they were. I have the manuals, the schematic and other details on it and the original box as well. Here is their power ratings:
400 watts per channel RMS x 2 into 8 ohms
800 watts per channel RMS x 2 into 4 Ohms
1k watt per channel RMS x 2 into 2 ohms
100 amps output into .1 ohm load.
In 4 channel mode they are 100 watts per channel but have much headroom.
Unit is around 100 lbs and has front and back rack handles.
