I purchased this from a fellow Agoner about three years ago. I liked it so much that I bought the real First Watt B1--which honestly, no kidding, was less involving than this clone. The man who made this amp took the time to do it the old fashioned way--with all point-to-point wiring--and parts that were not only a little more expensive but chosen because they were pleasing to his ear. That is DIY at its very best. No circuit boards and no short cuts. The result is a sound that is a little more mellow/richer than the regular B1. While I have moved on to tubes, I might still be using it if it had a remote! So, this really is a version of the B1 that nobody would make on even a kitchen table basis--let alone in production.
I had been planning to keep this as the preamp for my second system, but I am having just enough problems with my Cambridge 840E (yes the volume control) that I am not comfortable selling it. So, someone will get this zen-like beauty for a song. No pun intended. I'm just tired.
The case is an old cigar box--actually mahogany or teak. It doesn't have to look like an audio component. You can also run it vertically, like a book, rather than horizontal. It's just a nice sounding piece with a very different but very respectable look. Thanks. RCA only. No International or Canadian shipping. The price includes shipping within the CONUS.
