This cartridge has about 400 total hours on it and I am the second owner. The original owner was an audio reviewer for a major stereo magazine and he put about 50 hours on it before I got it.
The sound of the cart is difficult to describe as it doesn't really have a 'sound'. It is amazingly neutral, not favoring any realm of the sonic range. Bass is taut and accurate and the midrange is very lifelike. Where the cart really stands out is in dynamics. It is fast and able to swing with transients as quickly as they come. Paired with a decent table and phono stage, this is an extremely satisfying cart!
One other characteristic is tracking ability. Properly aligned, the 17D3 tracks the whole lp nicely. Inner Groove Distortion is inaudible - even on torture tests such as Ricki Lee Jone's debut album. Her voice holds firm all the way through 'Last Chance Texaco'.
As far as care goes, I have been meticulous. The stylus is cleaned every three records or so and I only play records that have been cleaned with my VPI machine. I've rated the item as an '8' simply for age and to be conservative.
Comes with original box and mounting screws. Depending on your headshell, you may prefer to use the screws that you currently have.
Price includes shipping via Fedex. Buyer adds 3% for Paypal. The price is fair. I'll entertain reasonable offers but lowball stuff will be ignored.
