EPI along with GENESIS speakers epitomize the great "New England Sound" speakers of the 1960' and 70's. Independently designed and manufactured in New Hampshire, these early (genuine) speakers are still highly sought after by audiophiles and those who just enjoy great music.

The pair of EPI 100's for sale were manufactured in 1978. A great deal of careful restoration has gone into bringing these speakers back to their original excellence--even improving upon the original. The dimensions are 21" x 11" x 9" and current weight is about 27 lbs each. The 8" woofers are original and recently refoamed. The following interior and exterior restorations have been made:

Interior: damaged and very fragile tweeters have been replaced with Human Speakers 5" inverted and improved tweeters; the crossovers and interior wiring has been upgraded to 100 volt 10 uF capacitors with 16 gauge internal wire and 5-way binding posts. This is also a hand made replacement from Huw Powell, the former EPICURE and GENESIS employee who now specializes at Human Speakers in maintaining the excellence of these long gone speaker gems of the 1960's and 70's speakers. I cannot give a high enough recommendation that those interested in great speakers from this era visit Human Speaker.com

All other improvements have been self-made. Speakers have received a thorough internal bracing and insulation from high quality 50% Corning insulation, thus virtually eliminating cabinet resonance. The exterior was a major project of choice. My goal was to create a speaker as aesthetically pleasing as its sound was outstanding.

After stripping old veneer, I used the following parts and techniques recommended by "Joe the Woodworker". This site is a great place to select product, supplies, options and extremely instructive advice. They are great to work with and their communications are fantastic. Exterior finish: Genuine Mahogany wood veneer 20 mil thick paper backed; red cherry stain, gloss quick dry polyurethane (two complete coats), slip coat solution of 50% Poly and 50% natural mineral spirits (applied with a natural cotton cloth wrapped around 3 crumpled pieces of paper towels; a total of 8 coats were applied over the polyurethane, each coat being scraped of any imperfections after the first couple of coats. After 2 weeks to cure the exterior received two coats of a great German acrylic protective gloss car finish. The results are incredibly durable and can be easily touched up with another application of one or two slip coats.

I offer these speakers for sale to any true enthusiast who desires great aesthetics in sound and physical beauty.

Thank you for reading and following my journey.

The speakers will be very securely packaged, most likely in separate well padded boxes. I will share shipping costs with purchase at asking price. I prefer to ship FedEx based on experience.
