While Falla was living in Paris, soon after the success of the first performance of La VidaBreve, there was talk among his friends, Dulzos, Debussy, Ravel, Florent Schmitt, etc., of the nocturnes which the maestro had conceived in the intimacy of his study, whither he would often withdraw despising the usual run of social life. But Flla refused to submit his works to the judgement of the public without first conscientiously perfecting them.

These nocturnes for piano form the work Nights In The Gardens of Spain, and Falla presented them in his home-land when he had to return there on account of the first world war. Falla was born in Cadiz on November 23, 1876, and died in Alta Gracis (Argentina) on November 13, 1946.

Rodrigo; The first performance of this work took place in Madrid on December 11, 1940, and ranked as a most important musical event, great intrest being aroused by the problem of writing for a solo guitar with orchestra. By the extraordinary technique of this young composer, that problem is solved almost as if by magic.
