"The Spirit of '76" represents the music for Fifes and Drums based upon the Field Music of the United States Army. The traditional marching tunes portions on this record enlist popular tunes for Fifes and Drums for the Revolutionary War through the Civil War. Other portions consist of tunes for the "Camp Duty of the US Army", and "Traditional Music for Fife and Drum". Such well-know classics as "Yankee Doodle", "Dixie", "Battle Hymn of the Republic" and "Gary Owen", the famous rousing call of General Custer's 7th Cavalry are only part of what is offered on this record."

This recording is incredibly realistic in it's portrayal of a Military Fife and Drum unit. The Drums are most impressive - the Snare and Bass drum appear to be "in the room with you". Air around the instruments and presence abound on this LP giving it it's realistic and powerful sound.
Surface noise is only present between cuts.
A very impressive recording!
