Wasn't planning on selling these, just testing the waters. There is currently a pair for sale on Ebay for $8020 (requires shipping from Japan) and also someone is selling a modified version for $50k (search Google for 'DRM Stage II SW'). Please contact me if interested.
Legendary Diatone DS-505 Japanese full-range 4-way monitors developed by Mitsubishi in 1984 with aramid honeycomb woofer/mid-range, and boron tweeter/mid-high domes. Extremely rare as they were never sold in the US (I had to create the Diatone brand in the listings, never sold on Audiogon before). I bought them from an Ad Executive who lived in Japan for 16 years, then he moved back to the US and had them in storage for the last 20 years. They were a wedding present from his in-laws in Japan. Speakers are in excellent condition with some slight wear on the cabinets as to be expected with 30 year old speakers.
I recently fully restored the speakers by replacing all capacitors with equal value Bennic capacitors (12 caps per speaker) and softened the surrounds with treatment fluid, and they now sound just like new. These are one of the most solidly built speakers I've ever seen. Also includes custom built speaker stands to raise the speakers to the appropriate height (I really wasn't planning to sell these!)
Make an offer, local pickup in Pasadena, CA area only. Speakers are hooked up and ready for demonstration.
