Factory Matched Set (Sequential Serial Numbers) of Virtually Mint Condition Infinity Crescendo Series CS-3006 Bi-Wire / Bi-Amp Compatible Speakers with Absolutely Beautifully Preserved Real Oak Wood Veneer and Flawless All Factory Original Drivers - $900 MSRP! A new form factor for the amazing Infinity Kappa 6 Speaker, the somewhat rare Infinity 3-driver / 3-way CS 3006 from infinity’s Top of the Line Crescendo model loudspeakers from 1994. The Crescendo Series was Infinity’s first step towards leveraging their years of critical acclaim into financial success and moving towards big box retailers in the mid 1990’s. Those who know of Infinity in the early Arnie Nudell era know them when they were the cutting edge speaker company that pushed the envelope both in terms of speaker cabinet design, but also in the revolutionary use of new materials and drivers. The Crescendo Series were Infinity’s new Top of the Line speaker models, and the CS 3006, 3007, 3008, and 3009 were essentially a new form factor for the fantastic Infinity Kappa 6 (6.1), 7 (7.1), 8 (8.1), and 9 (9.1) speakers. The Crescendo line had four different speakers that all featured Emit-R Tweeters and IMG Woofers. The Crescendo line started with the CS-3006, which featured an Emit-R, a 3" IMG midrange, and an 8" IMG woofer. The CS-3007 was a floor standing speaker and featured an additional woofer and a larger cabinet then the CS-3006. The CS-3008 featured an Emit-R tweeter, a 4" midrange, a 6.5" mid-base coupler, and a 10" woofer. The CS-3009 featured an additional 10" woofer. The Crescendo Series used the same interior components and drivers used in the Kappas, with the exception of the Polycell Midrange Dome. I have listened to many different Infinities over the years and can safely say that the Crescendos are every bit as good as the later Kappas produced in the early to mid 90's. The two 10" IMG woofers offer excellent bass and are faster than in the Kappa 9.1, and many prefer the sound of the 4" IMG cone driver over the Kappa 9.1’s Polycell Midrange Dome. The reason that these are somewhat rare and do not have a listing in the Audiogon Bluebook is that very, very few of these were ever manufactured and sold. At the time of their release in 1993 these Top of the Infinity Line model Crescendo speakers were being sold at a very high retail price and being marketed in a big box retailer environment that was used to selling speakers for a fraction of that price. Each store had one each of the Crescendo Model Line in the speaker room, and none in stock to sell. If a client wanted one, they would have to order it from the regional warehouse, as no stores kept a boxed pair in their stockroom. The Crescendo Series was a critical success but a financial failure, and the series was produced for less than three years after it was introduced, and was discontinued in 1995 as Infinity moved to other speaker designs that were less costly to manufacture. These speakers are in spectacular condition, and if not for some minor scuffs on the bottoms and a tiny buff on the bottom lip of one grill these would be mint. All drivers are factory original and are in flawless cosmetic and operating condition. The grills look amazing and are almost perfect. One grill has a tiny buff mark the size of a baby’s fingerprint on the bottom lip and that’s it – they are otherwise like new. Even from a short distance the grills look gorgeous - no stains, holes, tears and the plastic grill frames are perfect. The real Oak Wood cabinets are in exceptional condition. There are no edge dings, no scrapes or scratches and except for a few scrapes on the bottom surfaces the veneer is essentially perfect, and the oak grain pattern is beautiful. The factory original Bi_wire gold shorting clips are installed and included in the sale. SPECIFICATIONS FOR THE INFINITY CRESCENDO CS 3006 SPEAKERS: * Drivers: … Woofer: 8" IMG … Midrange Driver: 4" IMG … Tweeter: EMIT-R * Nominal Impedance: 8 Ohms * Power Rating: 30 – 150 Watts * Crossover Frequencies: 350 Hz, 3,000 Hz * Frequency Response: 50 Hz – 35 kHz (+/- 3dB) * Sensitivity: 90 dB (2.83 volts / 1 meter) * Dimensions: … 10.5" Wide … 21.7" High … 12.8” Deep If you like the Kappa Series, these Crescendo Series speakers beautifully represent that same high dynamic and wonderful virtuosity, without the amp-killing impedance dips that the larger original Kappa’s are known for (the original Kappa 9 speaker had impedance dips below 1 Ohm). Although these speakers can be easily driven with a 50 watt receiver, they really open up and sound spectacular once you get a clean dedicated amp of 100 – 200 watts and lots of headroom. These are superb speakers in every sense, and look beautiful. Although original marketing material listed them at $900 a pair, the reality was that these hit the stores actually retailing at $950 a pair in 1993 / 1994. If you know about these speakers, then you know that these Infinity Crescendo CS-3006 speakers rarely come up for sale on the used market – the sparse number of models that were made are with very happy owners, and those that do go on sale are not just few and far between, but also typically blemished in some regard. Here is a terrific opportunity to buy an exceptional condition factory matched pair with a truly beautiful light oak wood finish and with all original drivers in flawless condition. Please note that although these are not tower speakers, they are considerably bigger than bookshelf speakers. My preference is to sell these locally and not package and ship them. If you like, I can deliver these for free if you live nearby in San Francisco, Marin County or Berkeley. Payment is via US Post Office Money order, or Cash Upon Delivery / Pick Up. Note: The speaker stands displayed in the photos are for display purposes only and are not for sale.
