These speakers look as good as they sound. These are a custom setup that John Strohbeen at Ohm Acoustics sold me in 2007 consisting of a
pair of MicroWalsh SATs on top of SBS-10 subwoofer/stands in an absolutely
gorgeous custom antique oak veneer that give them a great vintage look. These are powered subwoofers so
you can match them to your room. Each has two long-throw, 10” vented drivers in a “balanced” layout to minimize unwanted distortion. Since
these are self-powered subs, you can adjust the bass to your room needs and
your preference. The SATs are obviously the patented Ohm Acoustics drivers that have received so much praise (and deservedly so) over the years.
The sound is wonderfully open and, as advertised, the sweet spot does
seem to go where you go, making them great for unusual spaces, which is why I
originally bought them. While bass is non-directional, the dual subs
really do give the sound a superior "bed" so the mids and highs can
relax and do their thing. Unfortunately, I moved, and I can't use
floor-standers in my new space, so reluctantly selling. Just tested them
-- they sound great. Paid $2400 in 2007. I am the only owner,
obviously.
These are in excellent condition -- only flaw I could see is a microchip to the
veneer in the very bottom left of one speaker -- I tried to photograph it, but
it's hard to see. In the rear, there is some slight discoloration to the
foam surrounding the sub woofers, but not sure they weren't like this
originally, and not something I'd normally notice, nor does it affect
performance.
I specified $300 shipping because I could not figure out the system. Shipping will be actual cost, but I would strongly prefer local pickup, as these are heavy. Actual cost would be based on UPS packaging them and ground shipping.
