Here we have a unique "instant subwoofer system" from Volti Audio and Marchand Electronics, complete with the speaker cable and ready to enhance your listening pleasure. If you've been listening without the "bottom end" of the music, you're in for quite a treat! I'll describe each of the 3 elements separately, and the photos will let you see more clearly just what they look like. The subwoofer. The plain-looking wood cabinet houses an 18" low-frequency driver designed to handle everything below 50 Hz. Greg Roberts at Volti Audio designed and built this prototype of what later became the much more glamorous ELF cabinets that are sold at $3,500 and up as part of the Volti Vittora speaker system. I bought this unit from Greg just a year ago, and he assured me that this prototype is sonically identical to the nicer-looking ELF units. I've now had the opportunity to listen to both at some length, and I can confirm his promise! The wood cabinet could be primed and finished in various ways, I just didn't get around to doing that. The subwoofer amplifier. As Volti owners may know, the Marchand MB42 subwoofer amp, with its built-in active crossover network, is a great match for the Volti subwoofers. It offers simplicity, adjustability, and ease of use. RCA inputs and 5-way binding post outputs. It's the amp that Greg Roberts of Volti uses whenever he exhibits at audio shows. This particular unit was owned by Greg Roberts of Volti audio until I bought it from him last year, and it also has a custom feature -- a remote control allowing you to adjust the amp's gain from your listening seat. The MB42 currently retails for $3000 and does not include a remote control. The speaker cable. This is a well-made 6' cable that has performed beautifully with this subwoofer and amp for the last year. All 3 items are operationally flawless, no issues at all. I have conservatively rated them together as 7/10 on the Audiogon scale. My asking price of $1,499 is well under half of MSRP for these items and is very fair. Selling only because I am upgrading to the Volti ELF cabinets with the fancy woodwork and I need the cash. Any questions, just let me know. Shipping will be at actual cost using the method of your choice. PayPal is welcome and adds the usual small fee. Tire-kickers and low-ballers will be politely ignored. Many thanks for looking!
