STAN KENTON (2 LP'S) Kenton In Stereo ST-1004 & West Side Story ST-1007 Here's two rare Stan Kenton collectables,
KENTON IN STEREO: Titles; SIDE A; Intermission Riff/Minor Riff/Collaboration/Painted Rhythm/Lover. SIDE B; The Peanut Vendor/Eager Beaver/Concerto To End All Concertos/Artistry In Boogie/Union Riff.
This album contains tangible evidence of the concepts of interpreting music that became established only after much experimentation through the process of proverbial "trial and error." This collective effort of arrangers and musicians became the foundation of all that was to follow. Many of the principals manifested in the performance of some of these simple ideas have not changed even in the more complicated works of today.
Vinyl Condition: Side A, EX and B, VG. Jacket: VG.
STAN KENTON WEST SIDE STORY ST-1007
Side ONE; Prologue. SIDE TWO; Cool.
He was never one to jump on the bandwagon of a successful Broadway show because many times the music was such that it could not be adapted to our concepts. However, Leonard Bernstein with "West Side Story" presented us with a complete score that seemed almost designed with us in mind. Both Johnny Richards and Stan had been working with the rhythms and the excitement of Latin music all through the years of there association and the enthusiasm for Berstein's great music is reflected in this album.
Vinyl Condition: SIDE ONE; VG, 2-EX. Jacket EX.
