With much regret, I am selling the Linn Axis Turntable that I customized almost 8 years ago. I built a custom Brazilian Purpleheart wood frame for it (6/10 rating is only for minor imperfections - overall, it's a great turntable). It has a standard 60hz motor from a Linn Basik turntable (2 pulley manual change) for the utmost in reliability, replacing the potentially trouble-prone electronics that it originally came with (the motor is mounted in the same position as the original, for better isolation). Tonearm is a rebuilt Linn Akito MK1, with new bearings and rewire, as well as a reinforced antiskate/armrest piece and a new counterweight. Included cartridge is a Digitrac (Ortofon) 200-NE with a virtually brand-new "NE" stylus (installed it for testing, only has a few hours on it). Dustcover is from a Thorens TD318 (I noticed a small, barely visible 1.5" crack on the top near the right front corner edge). The wood base has it's minor "character flaws", but by no means do they stand out or take away from it's uniqueness. Because of the imperfections, I decided to price it to sell, at $350 (PRICE NOW REDUCED TO $300!) (the tonearm alone is worth the price). This turntable looks great and performs even better than it's low price would indicate (it's performance is closer to that of the original Axis than that of the Basik). Don't miss your chance at a great turntable!
