WHO WE ARE:

Ember Audio + Video is a Winston-Salem, NC brick and mortar stereo shop. We are choosing to close and liquidating certain pieces of our demo stock in order to make way for neat new things (like having kids in one case, and moving across the country!) so this is that. We've been in business over 8 years and proudly have never had one return. Feel free to reach out with any questions you have, as we should be able to advise you on just about anything relating to this listing.

THE UNIT IN QUESTION:

This unit is brilliantly maintained with only a tiny bit of wear on the outer edge of the platter from an incidental bump with the clamp's edge - and it is pictured above - but otherwise, a perfect example of Clearaudio's Ovation, bearing a phenomenal, top-end arm and the venerable Concerto Wood V2 MC cartridge - it even comes with the offending clamp, which we still love, despite it's bad behavior.

The store itself featured many great tables and as a result we haven't leaned on this unit too very much - although it came by it's hours honestly and has solidly occupied the top of what we were able to offer here in central NC.

As to the sound - it doesn't really have one. If anything it shows particular strength in pulling apart dense passages while managing to continually balance note and texture deftly. In more petite or solo scenarios, it just sounds like music. If called on to be forceful, it's among the richest and most potent tables around.

The platform of the table itself is enormously simple and offers functionality for every kind of listener. The tonearm is by far the most flexible of the traditional tonearms that Clearaudio makes - and as such, requires a bit of finessing.

To that end I'm including Clearaudio's incredible alignment tool and scale, as well as a bit of their stylus cleaning fluid to maintain things nicely, and allow easy setup if you need to change the cart, or prefer another pass at aligning the Concerto when it arrives.

*THAT'S AN ADDITIONAL $500 WORTH OF STUFF*

Which is handy, right? I think so! Manna from heaven.

SHIPPING:

We happen to have an excellent shipper that we use for all of our transactions so to make things easy, let's say that we'll utilize our specialized shipper to ensure delivery as part of the price. We've worked with them on many difficult transactions and they've always taken the utmost care when it comes to our gear. If you have a preference otherwise, we'd be willing to entertain any notion you might have.

WARRANTY:

Like all demo gear, this unit is essentially beginning it's warrantied life as a new item, which has a 5-year warranty.

AND MORE...

As this is part of our closing sale, keep an eye out for a lot of other items in the coming week. We've picked each item in our shop carefully and we are brutally honest about doing the right thing in making recommendations, so if we think it's a bad fit, or you're better off doing something else, we will always say so.

Our little shop is closing debt-free and with happy customers and a history of zero returns - and I (Chris) plan to stay in the industry so reputation is kind of a big deal to us.

Feel free and reach out with any questions you might have :)

Best, Chris Livengood, Ember AV

Questions for the seller
Ok. Thanks. Looking forward to hearing the price breakdown. Also if the tt is dismantled in shipment how complicated is it to set up?
Greetings Peter - It's not difficult to set up in any particular fashion - but say, compared to any Rega one might say it is specific and requires a bit of care. If you decide to make an offer, I'd be happy to both advice and perhaps Skype/videochat through the process and lend you my best efforts to get it set up as much as possible. The main concerns involve making certain to not carry the table around without removing the platter and spindle, and also, upon receipt and setup, to add no more than two-three drops of the included bearing oil. The arm itself is quite easy to set, as is down-force, with only antiskate being slightly bizarre, as it is based on one of two similar dials on the Magnify arm and kind of hard to judge. Among peers of it's type though, the Magnify is as good as any arm I've tried and incredibly flexible in it's tolerance to just about any cart. Hope that helps - and to sum up: I'd say it is of moderate difficulty to set up and I'm happy to help as best I can. - Chris.
Can you provide a pricing breakdown for the system please. You mention 1500 hrs of cartridge use - what does this represent as a fraction of overall 'lifetime'? Also, does this include a dust cover? Thanks, Peter
Sure thing Peter - The base table is $6500. The Magnify is $3750. The Cart is $2750. The Quadro clamp is $200? And a bunch of odds and ends for setup, cleaning and alignment are around $500. The cart itself could service a user for another 5-10 years before any noticeable loss of dynamics, depending on how often you use it. If you're playing half a dozen records a day, every day, Id say 5, roughly. I never bought the slip-over lid for it because as a store I didn't think it saleable - it's very pricey. Maple shade makes a very good alternative cover that is almost identical for a third the price though - essentially a lucite box. Does that help? Thanks, Chris Livengood, Ember.
