DAC around an off the shelf chip-set such as an ESS Sabre, Wolfson, or Burr Brown.
The proof is in the listening, as many rave consumer and trade reviews would
indicate. This DAC offers truly amazing performance, and is one of the
very best you will find at this price level on the pre-owned market.
Believed by some audiophiles to be the best sounding design of the Qute Trilogy, the 2nd gen EX has an outstanding overall balance with superior bass control and extension compared to it's gen 1 HD and gen 3 2Qute generational siblings. In fact, new in box EX's are currently demanding as much as $1,950 on eBay, $155 more than the original list of $1,795!
This listing includes an upgraded iFi Audio iPower ultra low noise linear power supply ($55 list), and DH Labs' superb D-750 digital coax cable (1.0m) with RCA to BNC connectors ($145), as well as all factory accessories and packaging.

Thanks for your question. Absolutely, and this is how I used the Qute, connected to the RCA / coax out of an OPPO BDP-103D.
All of the signal processing is done at the DAC end.
And that is really where this component excels is with the magic it creates with Redbook CD's.
