PASS LABS XA 60.5 Monoblock power amplifiers Very conservatively rated at 60watts/ch (8 ohms and 120 w/ch at 4 ohms) in Class A mode but with massive amounts of current and headroom. Leaves Class A at 120 peak watts. Matched pair (with consecutive serial numbers), excellent condition with spectacular sound. Typical Nelson Pass tube-like sound. See John Atkinson's Stereophile review from when they were introduced. I rate them an 8 by Audiogon guidelines only because I am the second owner.
Includes original double boxes and packing materials and manuals. Will charge actual shipping plus insurance. PayPal and Audiogon Express buyers add 3%. You can reach me at 614-256-1755 or through Audiogon messaging with questions.
I will have a number of other listings up soon, including a Pass Labs X-3 three channel amplifier.
(John Atkinson review) Summing Up
I don't have much to say about the Pass Labs XA60.5 other than this: It is the best-sounding amplifier I have ever used. It's not perfect—I'd like my speakers' low frequencies controlled by a slightly tighter fist—but the XA60.5's magic midrange and sweet, detailed highs more than compensate, and are wholly addictive. And when you consider that, at $11,000/pair, the XA60.5 is relatively affordable, it's Class A all the way!
Questions for the seller |
---|
age, repair history, documents evidencing purchase??? I am not certain of age since I am the second owner. You can see the serial numbers in the photos and perhaps Pass Labs could answer that. I bought them on Audiogon, I believe around 2009, but have no documentation (although I can promise that I didn't steal them) and the Audiogon purchase history doesn't go that far back. They have been unused and in their original boxes for the last 4 ½ years. I checked them out before posting the ad and they sound sweet as ever. They have never been repaired to my knowledge. Hope this helps. |
