The Amethyst is the least expensive current model Metrum, a NON-OVERSAMPLING DAC THAT IS ALSO A TOP-QUALITY HEADPHONE AMP.
Metrum makes non-oversampling DACs based on a proprietary R2R chip that runs at 400Mhz, run by an FPGA. This is a state-of-the-art approach, and there are a number of reviews on 6Moons that include the background technical information. They sound quite different than regular delta-sigma DACs, with a different sense of flow and rhythm.
Personally I like the non-oversampling sound. I bought this new a few months ago, and am only selling it because I just got a combination DAC/preamp/amp setup from another brand. I don't need two DACs, and the other one is built into that system.
In factory packaging, original accessories included (were never unpacked).
